Undip Students Promote Moringa Leaf Pudding as PMT Menu Innovation

SemarangKKN Team II Undip 2024 Mento Village, Candiroto District, Temanggung Regency assisted the stunting prevention program with an innovative PMT (Supplementary Food Provision) menu for PKK Village cadres. This activity is part of a multidisciplinary work program carried out during the KKN. The KKN team consisting of Kristine Angelina Gultom (Industrial Engineering), Widya Permana (Law), Nurul Purwita (Chemistry), Jieo Violia Amanda (Government Science), Arder Lintang Marshanda (Food Technology), Fahma Indriawati (Tax Accounting), Adinda Hasnatya Nurdiansyah (Geodesy Engineering), and Jeremy Jodie Wirawan (Management) successfully implemented this program on August 10, 2024 at the Mento Village Hall.

As we know, stunting is a problem faced by many governments throughout the country. The government has made many efforts to prevent and overcome stunting, from central programs to regional programs. As students, it is appropriate to participate in helping with this problem. Provision of Supplementary Food (PMT) is one of the programs that has been implemented to overcome the problem of stunting. Providing highly nutritious food is expected to help fulfill the nutritional needs of stunting sufferers. However, confusion in choosing a menu is a new problem. Incompatibility of tastes and lack of innovation are obstacles in implementing the PMT program. “Sometimes, children don’t like the menu. So it’s a bit confusing what to make,” said Mr. Seta, Head of Mento Village, when interviewed some time ago. Therefore, the Mento Village KKN Team created a work program by providing an innovative PMT menu in the form of a booklet containing the raw materials, steps for making it, and the nutritional content of the menu. It is hoped that this program can help PKK cadres in choosing the next PMT menu.

One of the menus is moringa leaf pudding. This menu was chosen because moringa leaves are plants that have high nutritional value, are rich in antioxidants and are found around us without spending a lot of money. In addition, pudding is a food that is suitable for various groups and is relatively easy to make at an affordable price. “The menu is unique, delicious and easy to make,” commented Mrs. Ningsih as the Head of PKK Mento Village. The implementation of this work program was attended by PKK cadre mothers from Mento Village consisting of 8 hamlets. This activity began with an explanation of the moringa leaf pudding menu, a brief explanation of the PMT menu booklet, distribution of moringa leaf pudding and souvenirs and ended with a group photo session. The activity went smoothly, the PKK cadre mothers were very enthusiastic and responsive to the activities carried out.
