Education on the Importance of Ergonomics Concepts for Plastic Woven Bag UMKM Workers in Pesidi Village
Semarang – Ergonomic risks are health risks associated with working in the wrong body position or with repetitive movements. This often occurs when workers do not pay attention to their posture or are not given a suitable work environment. Therefore, Undip Team II KKN students provided assistance and education with the title “Education on the Importance of Ergonomic Concepts for Plastic Woven Bag MSME Workers in Pesidi Village”.
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, assistance/practice and presentation of material using posters and distribution of leaflets were carried out to all plastic woven bag workers in Pesidi Village. This activity was carried out at the house of Mrs. Saidah, one of the plastic woven bag workers in Pesidi Village, Grabag District, Magelang Regency. This education was based on the lack of understanding of plastic woven bag workers in one of the MSMEs in Pesidi Village regarding ergonomic risks at work. The program was implemented by presenting material with posters on the concept of ergonomics for plastic woven bag workers, ergonomic risk factors, and recommendations for improvements that can be made by mothers who work in plastic woven bags. Some of the ergonomic risks experienced by mothers who work in woven bags include a hunched posture, inappropriate eye contact with objects (woven), continuous eye contact, and working hours that exceed normal hours. The program began with distributing leaflets to all plastic woven bag workers and providing assistance and practice on how to make recommendations for improvements in the concept of ergonomics. After that, it was continued with documentation in the form of photos and videos with mothers who work in plastic woven bags. During the implementation of the activity, there were no obstacles. The assistance/practice activities were carried out well. Plastic woven bag workers were able to understand the material provided and were able to carry out direct practice well.
It is hoped that with education on the importance of the role of the concept of ergonomics in work, workers can implement it and be more aware of an effective, comfortable, safe, healthy, and efficient work environment.
